Adding a Touch of Paint to Your Layout! by GDT Stacey

At some point, you have probably tried using paint on your layouts. I have tried using it as a background, on chipboard, and many other ways. Here’s an easy way to add just a bit of color to your pages that you might not have tried.
Supplies needed:
PaintPaper/layout
Foam brush
Plastic sandwich bag (or even plastic wrap)

Directions:1. Smear some paint on a piece of scratch paper with a foam brush.

2. Press the plastic bag into the paint and dab onto your layout.
3. Repeat until you get the desired amount of paint.

Guest Designer Stacey Lokovic
A little bit about me:My name is Stacey Lokovic and I live in Utah with my husband, two young children (Joshua is 4 and Abigail is 1 1/2), and crazy Boston Terrier (Rocky). Before becoming a stay-at-home-mom, I taught English and journalism. I have always been a "crafty" person. Coloring, arts & crafts, drawing and writing have been interests of mine since I was young. I started keeping photo books around middle school, adding construction paper, journaling and stickers shortly after that. After college, I was introduced to Creative Memories and became much more particular about what went into my albums(those old markers and papers were already fading!). Today, I scrapbook for myself, my family and for generations to come. I love knowing that our stories will be recorded and no one will wonder who we were. I also scrap because it gives me a wonderful creative outlet; I get to play with paper, inks, paints, and scissors! I love the thrill of getting new products and trying out new techniques. I am thrilled to be part of Scrap 4 Life and am honored to be a guest design team member.

M.O.M Crystal Barlow
Hello. My name is Crystal Barlow. I am a stay at home mom and wife living in Southwest Ohio. My husband Eric and I have been married for 7 1/2 years and we have three beautiful daughters: Courtney (12), Kaitlyn (8) and Christina (6). All of my girls are involved in a girl scout troop and I'm an active parent in all of them. I am also the Secretary of the PTO at the elementary school. My life revolves around the girls and any activity they want to participate in which is usually soccer and softball. I love going to their games and cheering them on...not to mention all of the photo opportunites which turns into scrapping opportunities. I have been scrapping for almost 6 years now - I am completely over the top addicted. I also love reading. Thank you for choosing me to be the M.O.M. I am so very happy that I stumbled upon this site and took the time to check it out. I love the warm atmosphere and all of the inspiration.

April Guest Designer Contest

S4L April Guest Designer Call

Scrap4Life is looking for a guest designer for the month of April. Entries must complete the following challenge:

CARDSTOCK CREATIONS: Set aside the patterned paper and embellishments and let's see how far you can go with cardstock!!! Your challenge is to design a scrapbook page using cardstock and not much else!! i.e....Stamp a pattern on your cardstock, use those border punches, decorative-edge sisters, create paper piecings out of cardstock, use that paint or chalk, etc. etc.

Rules of Guest Designer Contest:- 1 layout entry per person.
- Deadline for entries is February 28th.
- A winner will be contacted privately on or before March 10th and it is will be top secret!!!
- Entry must be uploaded to the Monthly/"Guest"/Design Team gallery! International entries are welcome!
- You must not have been a Guest Design Team Member at Scrap4Life in the last six months.

If you're chosen as a Guest Designer: You'll be contacted via private message, and you'll be required to accept the position within 48 hours of notification. You must keep this Top Secret!
-Your photo and bio will be featured in our newsletter and Scrap4Life site.
-You'll receive a product from our APRIL sponsor and be required to complete 4 projects with your DT package!
-You'll participate in our message board forums by posting a minimum of 50 times the month you are guest designer

SCRAP 4 LIFE'S DESIGN TEAM SEARCH CONTEST

Want a chance to work with Scrap 4 Life’s amazing monthly kits and other amazing scrapbooking products? If so, then this is for you! Scrap 4 Life is searching for six scrapbookers to join its design team and would like to invite YOU to participate!

Beginning Monday, September 15th, participants will compete in 4 weeks of challenges to become part of Scrap 4 Life’s design team. Every Monday, a new challenge will be posted and contestants will have until Friday (5 days) to complete each challenge. Scrap 4 Life admin will take Saturday and Sunday to review the entries. Then, on Monday, Scrap 4 Life will announce the contestants who will move on to the next round. That same Monday, the next challenge will be issued. Again, the competition will last 4 weeks and the new Design Team members will be announced on Sunday, October 12th.

Design team commitment will be for 6 months from November 1 ,2008 to April 30, 2009.

*The number of contestants voted out each week will depend on how many participants sign up to play. All assignments must be new and created specifically for this contest. All layouts/projects created for Scrap 4 Life may not be posted in any other online galleries until the competition is complete. Rules and procedures are subject to change without notice at owners’ discretion. Current design team may participate.

To enter, you must be a registered member of http://www.scrap4life.com. Beginning September 1st there will be an official sign-up thread. In addition, you must have at least one layout in the gallery. Deadline to sign-up is Sunday, September 14, 2008, 12:00am EST.

The first challenge will be posted on Monday, September 15th. You will have until the following Friday at 12:00am (EST) to post your layout. Then on Monday at 9:00am (EST) we will announce who is going through to the next round and also, the next challenge will be posted and continue the same schedule until the end of the competition.

DESIGN TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
If you are selected to be on the Scrap4Life Design Team, your responsibilities will include:

6-month commitment to Scrap 4 Life
Create 3-4 layouts/projects per month with supplied product every other month.
There will be two groups of three designers. Group 1 will design one month and Group 2 the next, and so on.
Host at least one online crop.
Actively participate in Scrap 4 Life’s message board discussions and challenges.
Actively praise layouts/projects in Scrap 4 Life’s gallery.
Participate in online crops.
Post at least one monthly challenge to forum and blog
Meet deadlines as set by owner or design team coordinator

Benefits include:

• One out of the six months, you will receive a Scrap 4 Life exclusive kit (approximately $30 worth of product) to design with; the other 2 months, you will receive $25 worth of product to complete your layout/project assignments.
• 20% discount on store purchases

Scrap 4 Life is looking for a Guest Designer to work with our kits every month! If you would like a chance to work with the Scrap 4 Life Monthly Kit and show off your talent, then be sure to check out this opportunity! We have fabulous kits lined up for 2008 and trust me you will love playing with our kits!!!

Here is what our guest designers will receive from us:
*During your month you are chosen we will add your photo and bio to our website’s Designers’ Page and you will be featured in our monthly newsletter.
*You will receive a free monthly kit to work with! (Retail is approx $40.)
*You will receive a 20% discount code that is good all month long in our store. This discount can be used on any new or clearance items.

Here is how you can qualify for this opportunity:
*Upload your layouts and/or projects to the Scrap 4 Life gallery before the deadline and become an active member in our message board community.
*The Scrap 4 Life Staff will select 1 new guest designer for each month.

Guest Designer Responsibilities:
*The guest designer will need to provide us with a brief bio and give us personal contact and address information.
*The guest designer will be asked to supply a photo for our design team web page.
*The guest designer will receive a monthly kit and they will be required to design projects for our promotional use in newsletters and product promotions.
*Guest designers chosen must keep it TOP SECRET and not reveal anything until the Scrap 4 Life newsletter is released announcing them.

If you are selected to be a Scrap 4 Life Guest Designer you will remain a part of the design team for 30 days. After your term has ended you will be asked to wait a full 12 months before submitting to the Guest Design Team position again. You cannot be a guest designer more than once over a 12 month period.

SCRAP4LIFE'S 2008 COMPLETED LAYOUTS CONTEST

How would you like to win a gift certificate to the Scrap 4 Life Shoppe for doing what you already do...Creating and Sharing?! This year Scrap 4 Life is going to be featuring our first annual contest.

Participants are required to list a minimum of 50 layouts they have done throughout the year in the Contest area of the Forum and upload layouts in their member layout gallery. Layouts can be posted and listed with the links at any time throughout the year, but we strongly encourage participants to post one layout per month to the gallery.

You can start posting at any time, but by the end of the year, you must have at least 50 layouts listed on a forum post (in the 2008 Completed Layouts Contest section) and the links to your layouts to your member gallery must be there too. Please put a link next to your layout titles in your list. Winners will be selected at random and their entries verified for validation.

How are the winners chosen?

*Qualifying winners will be drawn at random at the end of the year

*Scrap 4 Life gift certificates for $50 (to each winner, 4 winners total) will be awarded before January 31, 2009.

*Odds of winning depends on number of participants

*Must be a registered member in good standing at Scrap 4 Life to be eligible

Pageframe Designs Clear Album Contest

This month, Scrap4Life is thrilled to announce it's Pageframe Designs *Clear Album* Contest! We are completely honored to have Pageframe Designs sponsoring this month's contest. Here are the details of the contest:

1) For this contest, each contestant will submit and be judged on ONE individual clear frame album project. You will need to use a PageFrame Clear Album as the base and you are welcome to use any other products and there is NO theme for this contest.

2) Each PageFrame Clear Album must be a new design and contain original artwork. Projects that have been submitted to other contests or publications are not eligible. Entries cannot be posted or submitted elsewhere until the contest is officially over and winners are announced. Any entry found violating this will be eliminated immediately. PLEASE do not enter if you have posted your projects on other sites!

3) Anyone and Everyone would be welcome to enter, so long as they are a Registered Member of our site. International entries are accepted (you will just be required to pay for half of the shipping.)

4) Projects should be emailed to contest@scrap4life.com Each project must include contestant's full name, address, telephone number, screen name you use on the site, and a complete supply list. If this info is not provided entry will not be considered.
